Motorhome, Campervan & Caravan Damage Appraisal in France
Your vehicle stays where it is. Certified appraisers inspect motorhomes, campervans and caravans across France at the pitch, at a local garage or wherever the vehicle stands, and issue a report your comprehensive insurer accepts. First response within 2 hours; inspection normally 72 hours. Currently covering 34 localities.
Camping France: what we are dealing with
France covers more ground than any other country in this campaign and its camping regions have almost nothing in common with each other. The Côte d'Azur and the Var, the Languedoc coast, the Atlantic from the Vendée to the Landes, Brittany, the Dordogne and the Alpine departments each behave differently in terms of season, peril and repair capacity.
What damages vehicles here, and when
Two distinct patterns. The Mediterranean south sees severe summer hail and, in autumn, the Cévennes rainfall episodes that produce some of the most violent flash flooding in Europe — riverside campsites in the Gard and the Ardèche are the specific exposure. The Atlantic coast sees storm and wind damage on an entirely different calendar, running through winter. Coastal sites everywhere carry theft exposure.
Distance and what it costs to move a vehicle
The longest recoveries in the campaign. Munich to the Côte d'Azur is roughly 900 km, to Brittany around 1 200 km, to the Landes further still. At those distances transporting a 7.5-tonne motorhome home becomes a serious four-figure exercise, and the repair-or-repatriate comparison genuinely goes either way rather than defaulting to repatriation. That is exactly the situation where having real figures matters most.
Practicalities
EU member, euro, no customs complication. French is the working language and English coverage in the trade is patchier than in the Netherlands or Croatia. Toll motorways add materially to any recovery cost over these distances. French motorhome repair capability is good — the domestic market is one of the largest in Europe — but it is unevenly distributed.

How it works here
- Send photographs and your location by WhatsApp. First response within 2 hours.
- Triage: is the vehicle safe to move, and what must be secured before it is touched.
- On-site inspection, normally 72 hours from instruction.
- Report in the language of the insurer handling the claim, with translated annexes.
- If the amount is disputed: expert determination under section 84 VVG.
Comprehensive cover rests on your contract rather than on anyone's liability. The insurer bears the cost of the assessor it appoints; an independently commissioned appraisal is, as a rule, commissioned and paid for by the policyholder. We quote a fixed price before any work begins. Detail on that is on who pays for the appraisal.
