Camping Poland: what we are dealing with
Polish camping for German visitors runs along two axes: the Baltic coast from the German border eastward through Świnoujście, Kołobrzeg and the Hel peninsula, and the Masurian lake district in the north-east. Coastal sites sit behind dunes and pine forest; Masuria is water, forest and open sky. Volume from eastern Germany is substantial and growing.
What damages vehicles here, and when
On the coast, Baltic storms — which are a genuine hazard from late summer through winter, not only in the peak holiday weeks — and wind-driven sand and debris. Inland, summer convective storms with hail, and tree fall in the pine sites that dominate both regions. Coastal flooding where sites sit at dune level. The perils are less dramatic than alpine hail but the wind exposure on the open Baltic coast is sustained rather than episodic.
Distance and what it costs to move a vehicle
Short from eastern Germany and moderate from the west. Berlin to the western Baltic coast is roughly 250 km, Berlin to Masuria around 600 km. For a Berlin- or Dresden-based owner this is among the cheapest recoveries in the campaign; for a Bavarian owner it is comparable to northern Italy.
Practicalities
EU member, złoty rather than euro, which matters for local invoicing. Polish is the working language with German widely understood in the western regions. Poland has a large and capable vehicle repair sector and motorhome capability is better than in most of the countries in this campaign, which makes local repair a genuine option rather than a fallback.

How it works here
- Send photographs and your location by WhatsApp. First response within 2 hours.
- Triage: is the vehicle safe to move, and what must be secured before it is touched.
- On-site inspection, normally 24-48 hours from instruction.
- Report in the language of the insurer handling the claim, with translated annexes.
- If the amount is disputed: expert determination under section 84 VVG.
Comprehensive cover rests on your contract rather than on anyone's liability. The insurer bears the cost of the assessor it appoints; an independently commissioned appraisal is, as a rule, commissioned and paid for by the policyholder. We quote a fixed price before any work begins. Detail on that is on who pays for the appraisal.
Damage now? Send photographs before the vehicle is moved.
